Shiny New Moroni- -- Goodbye to McFaddens and Jacksons, David's Kadavu Trip, and Thanksgiving 2014

Moroni comes off the top of the Fiji Temple for a facelift!
Time to go back up---all golden, shiny, and new!

Time to say goodbye to Elder and Sister McFadden from Idaho Falls, ID
The best missionary couple Taveuni has ever seen!
Last Day for Elder DeWayne and Sister Shirley Jackson from Syracuse, Ut.
Fiji's best and hardest workers (and players!) in the PEF program.
David and Elder Collins on the island of Kadavu.
They checked out the missionary flat  to see if
could be shared with a Senior Couple

David says Kadavu is the prettiest place in Fiji that he has seen so far!
They stayed at "The Dive"...a nice resort on Kadavu

Beautiful sunset in Kadavu
After putting lots of packages on the "Gondor"
It became his mode of transportation back to Suva!
I won't post the pictures, but he said it reminded him of being
on the Carnival Triumph disaster cruise!

His new friend...this little girl had to to touch his toes
to see what white skin felt like!
Cute table decorations at our senior Thanksgiving dinner.

President Layton, Elder Wells and Elder Terry make pretty good
"Churkey" carvers!
Lots of yummy food and good company!

Working off some of those calories with some fun
 "Minute To Win It" games!

Sight seeing with Dave and Judy Parrish

Dave and Judy Parrish came for a visit in November 2014.
We met them at the beautiful Outrigger Resort on the west coast.

The view from our room.
We stayed in a room in a building that was exactly the same
 the bures...just not a bure!

An early morning stroll on the beach for Linda while David watched!

Lillie Pads all in bloom at the Outrigger.
We showed them around town.
The cemetary-if Fiji you are buried above ground!
and a busy day the market.
The guard at the Prime Minister's Palace
He stands completely still except every 15 minutes he marches!
Dave and Dave at the beautiful chapel on top of the hill at Korovo.

The member's house that watches over the chapel--this is 9 year old Moses.
Inside the home with Moses' sisters.
Notice no furniture, but a stereo in the corner!
Maybe you would live in a house like that to have a beautiful
place like this to hang your laundry to dry!

This is the "house boat" David always drives past when going to missionary
houses in the villages near Nausori.  The are trying to make it look like Noah's Arc!

Navoua River Trip #2 With President and Sister Layton and Dave and Judy Parrish

READY TO GO!
Nauvoa River Trip #2

Our boat mates are President and Sister Layton, Dave and Judy Parrish.
Off we go!
I think the Laytons are really enjoying their very first P Day excursion!
Dave and Judy hiking to the waterfall.
Of course, you know who is always the first one in the water!

The Laytons on the trail back to the boats.
We passed the village people on a billy billy taking their products
down river  to sell in the markets.
Most of the time they earn just enough money to get a
motorized boat ride back to their village!
Now it's our turn on the billybilly...not the most comfortable ride!

Thank goodness it was a short ride in the billybilly!

David was the first one to get a coconut drink!  He really likes it....not me!  He can have both straws!
Only the men get to participate in the Kava ceremony!
Some village entertainment.

David was NOT the first one to get up and dance!
President and Dave P. were willing participants!
Pobably the best part of the village is a visit to the preschool!

The drums beating tell us it's time to go!
